The Disappearance of Samuel Gilbert

Samuel Gilbert was last seen in Raleigh, North Carolina on October 23, 2018. He disappeared after walking out of his apartment, leaving his sons and vehicle behind.

Background

Samuel grew up in the Charlotte area and graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1994. He moved to to Raleigh around 2004.

He worked as a senior operations manager with the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants in Durham and often traveled for work.

Samuel was divorced in May 2018, and has two teenage sons. He seemed to be good spirits at the time of his disappearance, and was looking forward to becoming an assistant baseball coach at Daniels Middle School, according to his mother.

Disappearance

Around 10:00 pm on October 23, 2018, Samuel Gilbert walked out of his apartment near Crabtree Valley Mall in Raleigh, North Carolina.

His two teenage sons were in bed at the time, and he left without his wallet, keys, and Chevrolet Tahoe. He hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

Upon discovering him missing, his ex-wife reported him missing the next morning at 8:30 am.

Investigation

Surveillance footage from his apartment building in the 3900 block of Fairstread Drive captured Samuel with his cell phone. The footage shows him walking out the front door and onto Fairstead Drive towards Crabtree Valley Mall. 

Law enforcement, with the help of canine units, searched the wooded areas around his house, but found no further clues as to his whereabouts.

Appearance

White male with partially grey hair and hazel eyes. Samuel stands 6’0 tall and weighs 180-200 pounds.

Clothing & Accessories:
Samuel was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans, and a blue Adidas baseball cap.
