Background
Ashley is a mother of two who works as a hairstylist out of her home on Knox Road in Warren, Michigan.
According to loved ones she would always stay in close contact with family, and would not leave without warning.
Disappearance
At approximately 8:30 am on January 2, 2025, Ashley Elkins left her Warren home on Knox Avenue to run some errands. She was last seen driving a grey 2009 Chevy Malibu with a crack on the passenger side and no license plates.
Ashley never returned home, and hasn’t been heard from since. Her family reported her missing to the Warren Police Department on January 3, 2025.
Investigation
Ashley’s cell phone last pinged at her ex-boyfriend’s residence, located at an apartment complex in the 20900 block of Pinehurst Street in Roseville, Michigan. When police arrived at the apartment no one was present, and Ashley’s vehicle was gone.
According to her family, Booker made a call to Ashley a few days before her disappearance, pretending to be a client of hers and making an appointment at the hair salon she runs out of her home. When he showed up she told her sisters to be quiet; he knocked on the side door for awhile before leaving.
Ashley’s uncle, attorney Maurice Morton, is pleading with police to take the case seriously.
“Don’t treat this as just, you know, a possible young lady who walked away from her children — because she would not do that. She loves her family, she loves her children,” Morton said. “Treat this as a possible abduction or missing person, and I feel that they’re doing that.”
Police have been canvassing businesses for video, trying to help determine a timeline and clues to her whereabouts.
On January 7, 2025, Ashley’s vehicle was found abandoned in the area of 13 Mile and Little Mack in Roseville, not far from her ex boyfriend’s home.
Following the discovery of the vehicle, the ex’s home was searched. A dumpster was taken away as evidence.
Ex-Boyfriend Arrested
On January 8, 2025, Ashley’s ex-boyfriend, DeAndre Booker, was arrested by Roseville police. He is set to be arraigned at 10:00 am on January 9.
During a search of his residence, it was determined that there ‘was a strong possibility of foul play involved in this incident,’ according to investigators.
Ex-Boyfriend Charged With Murder
On January 31, 2025, Deandre Booker was charged with first degree murder. The charge comes after DNA evidence came back from the dumpster found at his apartment complex.
Ashley’s remains have not been found.
Whereabouts
The location of Ashley Elkins, as well as the circumstances surrounding her disappearance, remains unknown. Her case is classified as endangered missing and remains unsolved.
Appearance
Black female with black hair and brown eyes. Ashley stands 5’3 tall and weighs 160 pounds. Her hair was in braids at the time of her disappearance.
Clothing & Accessories:
Ashley was last seen wearing a long black coat with fur around the hood, black leggings, and Crocs shoes. She has a piercing on her right cheek and two nose rings on the right side.
