A Texas teen who disappeared nearly a week ago may be in grave danger, according to local authorities.
Maryuri Yolani Gomez Marquez, 15, was last seen in Plains, Texas, around 8 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 28, the Texas Department of Public Safety announced on Tuesday. An AMBER alert has been issued in connection with her disappearance.
Authorities say she was last seen with 41-year-old Juan Orlando Garcia Sarmiento. He is considered “wanted” by law enforcement.
Police did not state if Sarmiento and Maryuri are related. They believe the child to be in grave or immediate danger.
In the AMBER Alert, authorities also gave a description of a vehicle connected to her disappearance: a 2010 Black Ford with a Texas license plate, number WGV9997.
The Yoakum County Sheriff’s Office has said Sarmiento is wanted on “related charges” but did not specify the nature of the charges.
Maryuri is a Hispanic girl with brown hair and eyes, weighs 125 lbs and is 5’11” tall.
Sarmiento is a Hispanic man, 5’9″ in height, with black hair and brown eyes and weighs 188 lbs.
